Outdoor Screening: E.T. (McKinley Park, Brooklyn) 8:30–10:30 PM
Pretty sure we don’t need to provide a synopsis of this classic 80’s film, but we will say that it’s out of this world. Put a basket on your bike and head to the park with some Reese’s Pieces in tow. Maybe you’ll make a new friend!
Outdoor Screening: Smiles of a Summer Night (McCarren Park, Brooklyn) 9–11 PM
Celebrate the famous Swedish director Ingmar Bergman by joining other classic movie buffs in McCarren park in watching the 1955 comedy that made him internationally famous. Get there early — seating is limited. Snacks are allowed and blankets are encouraged.
Outdoor concert: Branford Marsalis and Roger Guenveur Smith: Frederick Douglass Now (Prospect Park Bandshell, Brooklyn) 6:30 PM
Care to hear a three time GRAMMY award-winning “jazz chameleon” from NOLA play for free? Branford Marsalis has taken over the music scene, from accompanying the Grateful Dead in the 90’s to producing some of the jazz world’s most prominent artists. Gates open at 6:30, concert starts at 7:30.
Live music: Jazz Under The Bridge Summer Series (IBEAM Studio, Brooklyn) 7 PM
Jazz Under the Bridge is combines music from jazz to hip hop, vibes, and love. Created for “the appreciation and preservation of live improvisational-based music within a digital age,” this isn’t something to miss. Free with RSVP.

Outdoor Screening: Wonder Woman (Dongan Lawn, Fort Tryon Park, Manhattan) 8–11 PM
Watch as Wonder Woman saves the world and empowers womxnkind all at once! Get to the park early to snag a good spot, and enjoy one of Manhattan’s best sunset locations and river views.
Outdoor screening: An American Tail (Rory Staunton Field, Queens) 8–10 PM
Fievel is the mouse of our childhood and voice of his mouse generation. If it’s been a couple decades since you’ve seen the movie, here’s a refresher: Fievel is a Russian-Jewish immigrant mouse in 1800s NYC who has to search for his family after they’re separated upon arriving in America.
Concert: The Sadies and Mandingo Ambassadors (Union Pool, Brooklyn) 2PM
There are taco trucks, tunes, and 21+ daytime fun to be had with The Sadies and New York based band Mandingo Ambassadors at one of Williamsburg’s most happening bars. Come for the music and stay for the vibes.
Live music: Slowdive (House of Vans, Brooklyn) 7 PM
Vans wants you to skate, and to support emerging musical talent. This event has their headliner Slowdive picking out its own supporting acts! The queue starts pretty early and usually goes around the block, so plan accordingly. Tickets are limited, but Vans also has a habit of giving more away on social media. Free w/ RSVP.
Outdoor concert: Talib Kweli/Oshun (Betsy Head Park, Brooklyn) 6–9 PM
Yowzas! One of the great voices of our time, Talib Kweli, is performing for free. This is a rare opportunity and a must attend event. If you get close, get an autograph for us? Please?!
Outdoor screening: A League of Their Own (Schmul Park, Staten Island) 8:30–10:30 PM
A favorite early 90’s movie, A League of Their Own showcases a fictional account of the very real women’s baseball league during WWll, the AAGPBL. They really hit it out of the park with this all-star cast: Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell…the list goes on!

Outdoor concert: Broken Social Scene, Melissa Leveaux, The East Pointers (Summerstage Central Park, Manhattan) 3 PM
Our polite neighbors to the north bring us indie rock band Broken Social Scene. The band has 6–19 members at any given time, and always keep it lively. Also playing is Canadian singer Melissa Leveaux as well as Canadian band The East Pointers. Happy Canada Day!
Concert: The Benjamin Appel Sextet, The Ben Stowers Trio, The Kevin Miller Trio (Pianos, Manhattan) 7PM
Saunter into the cool-as-a-cucumber upstairs lounge of Pianos to listen to some jazz from New York based pianist and composer Benjamin Appel of The Benjamin Appel Sextet, as well as jazz trios The Ben Stowers Trio and The Kevin Miller Trio.
Outdoor concert: The Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital Series (Summerstage Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island) 7PM
If you’re feeling classy and cultured this Sunday, the Met Opera is presenting arias and recitals from amazing young talents by Texan soprano Michelle Bradley and Australian-Chinese tenor Kang Wang. Get your free tickets here.
